Nestle has gone to the dogs, literally

Nestle, one of the world's biggest makers of pet food, has launched the first television commercial aimed at dogs, using a high-frequency tone to grab their attention.

"Dogs' hearing is twice as sharp as humans. They can pick up frequencies which are beyond our range and they are better at differentiating sounds," said Georg Sanders, a nutrition expert at Nestle Purina PetCare in Germany.

We aren't sure what difference any of that makes, unless dogs are driving to the store to purchase the dog food, but maybe that's just a minor detail.

Nestle asked experts in pet behavior in the United States to research what would appeal to dogs and used the results to create the 23-second commercial for its Beneful dog food brand.
The ad, features a tone similar to a dog whistle, which humans can barely hear, as well as an audible "squeak" like the sound dogs' toys make and a high-pitched "ping."
"So delicious, so healthy, so happy," ends the commercial in German, which features a dog pricking up his ears.

"The television commercial aims to reach both the pet and the owner, supporting the special one-to-one relationship between them," said Xavier Perez, Brand Manager of Beneful for Europe.

Yeah, well, good luck with that.

Martin Bashir Blames GOP for Cantaloupe Food Poisoning Deaths

In an ridiculous ranting and raving diatribe on his hour long show on MSNBC, host Martin Bashir (we have no idea who this guy is) actually tried to blame budget cutting by Republican lawmakers for a deadly outbreak of listeria in cantaloupe: "John Boehner and his Republican majority decided to gut the food safety and inspection service....Cut, cut, cut. Now the results are in. 16 people have lost their lives."

Bashir went on to blame free market and less government for the outbreak: "Republicans in Congress talk proudly of their commitment of laissez-faire economics, where government gets out of the way and everything works perfectly. You try telling that to those who ate melon with a side of listeria."

Reasons Coffee Is Good for You

We like coffee and we drink coffee and it just so happens a cup of coffee is actually good for you.
Coffee has a stimulating richness recognized for centuries as a natural, curing, medicinal, healing, medicamental, remedial, restorative, therapeutic bean.

Studies have documented the benefits of the topical application of coffee and caffeine.
Christine Willett, founder of Barista Bath and Body, has made extensive studies of the effects of coffee on the body and this is what she has found:
Caffeine was identified as a stimulator of human hair growth, in vitro, a fact that has important clinical impact in the management of AGA (androgenetic alopecia or premature hair loss).
Caffeine applied topically blocks the production of the hormone DHT at the hair follicle. DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is considered the primary cause of hair follicle destruction triggering hereditary hair loss or pattern baldness.

Coffee has a pH of 4.5 to 5.5, which is slightly acidic. This acidity constricts the pores, creates a protective layer and provides the appearance of firmer, younger looking skin - and helps with the battle against acne.

Coffee grounds have been used for centuries to exfoliate the skin.
Removal of old skin cells allows for increased moisture absorption by new skin cells. The caffeine in coffee grounds stimulates new cell growth resulting in a finer, firmer appearance.

Caffeine at 10 percent solution inhibits the growth of the enzyme (phosphodiesterase), which exacerbates psoriasis.

The flavanoids in caffeine have been found to inhibit the formation of UVB- induced tumors.

Caffeine, which contains chlorogenic Acid, promotes the natural, non-traumatic elimination of skin cells previously damaged by UVB exposure. These damaged cells cause wrinkles, dark spots and droopy skin.

Trigonelline, caffeic acid, and chlorogenic acid compounds in all coffee and coffee extracts have been found to inhibit bacterial growth of at least 10 microbes including the one causing staph infections like MRSA.

Coffee and caffeine act as vasodilators, which constrict the surface of the skin so it feels tighter and firmer.

The anti-oxidants in coffee neutralize the free radicals created by the body which lead to inflammation and inhibits the growth of hormones and enzymes, which cause inflammation.

Incidentally, research shows that coffee drinkers, compared to nondrinkers, are less likely to develop diseases like type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's and dementia.

Coffee drinkers have fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems and strokes.

Florida Teen Murder Suspect Says She's a Vampire

An 18-year-old (self proclaimed vampire) Florida girl accused of helping lure a 16-year-old boy into a fatal trap says she's a vampire who has drunk the blood of her boyfriend.

Stephanie Pistey admits that the people involved in the July murder of 16-year-old Jacob Hendershot were in a vampire cult. Pistey, who has been charged with accessory to murder, said she sees herself as a modern day Dracula.

"Since I was like 12 every fiber in my body, basically everything, I know this is going to be crazy, but I believe that I'm a vampire and part werewolf," Pistey said.

She denied drinking Hendershot's blood, but says she drank the blood of her fiancé and co-defendant William Chase, 25. She says she expects to spend her life in prison.

"Now that I'm here I'm pretty much figuring out I'm going to stay here the rest of my life," said Pistey.

Once and for all - it's an ice cream cone

The owners of Ice Cream Family Corner and Sandwiches at the intersection of South Pine Avenue and Southwest 17th Street say their two-month-old business is terribly misunderstood because people that drive by have mistaken their white-hooded ice cream cone costume for a KKK protester.

Co-owner Jose Cantres says rumors are going crazy on Facebook and potential customers are staying far away from the KKK guy.
Liza Diaz, who manages the store said an employee at the bank where she does business told her a co-worker was so frightened by the KKK guy on the street corner that she called her husband crying and refused to drive through the intersection.

“One (customer) told me, ‘I had to think twice before coming in here because I thought it was KKK,' “ Diaz said.

Now, if you take a good look at the costume it looks nothing like the white-hooded Klan clothing. (see photo below of the KKK)

The real KKK outfit doesn't have a fluffy white top, it doesn't curl slightly at the peak, and it isn't sitting on top of a brown waffle cone.

Dalmore 62 scotch whisky sells for $200,000

A Chinese man just made a $79.400 deposit on a bottle of Dalmore 62 scotch whisky that sold for $200,000, and that's a new world record.

The $200,000 bottle price amounts to about $12,000 per serving.

Many collectors think even at that price it's a good investment.
Only twelve bottles of the Dalmore single malt were produced, and the bottle is 62-years old.

The bottle is currently at the Changi Aiprport in Singapore, with the man reserving it through a bank transfer. Another bottle was sold three months ago, but that only sold for $188,000.

piranhas Gotta Eat

Okay, that's not a real picture, but the ones below are.

Authorities in Brazil's northeast are trying to take the bite out of piranhas taking the bite out of beachgoers.
It seems piranhas have sunk their teeth into about 100 swimmers.
Piranhas have the teeth and ability to make a hurtful bite into human flesh, and authorities are trying to act fast to reduce the piranha overpopulation situation.

Last weekend, at least 100 bathers were treated at the hospital in Jose de Freitas after being bitten on the heels or toes at the local beach.

"Since they have no predators, piranhas have started attacking people on the beach," said Romildo Mafra, a local environment official.

Officials so far have added tilapia to the piranhas' local food chain hoping to satisfy some of the piranhas hunger.

Japan discovers radiation in rice

In Japan, a sample of unharvested rice contained 500 becquerels of cesium per kilogram, (Japanese officials say 500 and under is safe) Radioactive cesium, you may remember, was spread from the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant after it was damaged by that massive earthquake and tsunami on March 11.

Some nations have stopped importing some food products from Japan and Japanese consumers are understandably nervous about the radiation.
Japan wants more tests done on rice growing near a nuclear plant after finding elevated levels of radiation.

The government has been testing vegetables and fish for radiation since the disaster.

"My Last Supper, The Next Course"

There seems to be some interest in "what would be your last meal," and this has led us to the book called "My Last Supper, The Next Course," Publication Date October 2011.

Chefs have been playing the “My Last Supper” game among themselves for a very long time, and Melanie Dunea asks fifty of the world’s great chefs to tell her what their final meals would be. 'My Last Supper, offers responses that are surprising and fun,
they reveal the passions of their personalities.

My Last Supper: The Next Course from Rodale Books on Vimeo.

The Last Last Supper

We never understood why inmates on death row, about to he executed, are allowed a let meal request.
Now in Texas, inmates who are scheduled to be executed will no longer get their choice of last meals.
The change was made after a state senator became pissed off over an expansive last meal request from Lawrence Russell Brewer, condemned for the dragging death of James Byrd Jr. more than a decade ago.

Lawrence Russell Brewer, who was just executed, asked for two chicken fried steaks, a triple-meat bacon cheeseburger, fried okra, a pound of barbecue, three fajitas, a meat lover's pizza, a pint of ice cream and a slab of peanut butter fudge with crushed peanuts.

After ordering all that food prison officials said Brewer didn't eat any of it.
"It is extremely inappropriate to give a person sentenced to death such a privilege," Sen. John Whitmire, chairman of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee, wrote in a letter to Brad Livingston, the executive director of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Within hours, Livingston said he agreed with the senator's concerns and the practice of allowing death row offenders to choose their final meal was over.

"Effective immediately, no such accommodations will be made," Livingston said. "They will receive the same meal served to other offenders on the unit."

"It's long overdue," the Houston senators said.
"This old boy last night, enough is enough. We're fixing to execute the guy and maybe it makes the system feel good about what they're fixing to do. Kind of hypocritical, you reckon?

"Mr. Byrd didn't get to choose his last meal. The whole deal is so illogical."

Brewer, a white supremacist gang member, was convicted of chaining Byrd, 49, to the back of a pickup truck and dragging him to his death along a bumpy road in a case shocked the nation for its brutality.

Whitmire warned, if the "last meal of choice" practice wasn't stopped immediately, he'd seek a state statute to end it when lawmakers convene in the next legislative session.
Some states limit the final meal cost — Florida's limit is $40. Texas, never had a dollar limit, said all meals must be prison-made. Some states don't acknowledge final meals.

Then another death row guy, Cleve Foster's request included two fried chickens, French fries and a five-gallon bucket of peaches.

Another inmate Steven Woods' request included two pounds of bacon, a large four-meat pizza, four fried chicken breasts, two drinks each of Mountain Dew, Pepsi, root beer and sweet tea, two pints of ice cream, five chicken fried steaks, two hamburgers with bacon, fries and a dozen garlic bread sticks with marinara on the side. Two hours later, he was executed.

There was once a Texas inmate even requested dirt for his final meal.

Taco Bell, Hot Sauce and a Shot Gun

30 year old Jeremy Combs, (above photo) was really upset that someone forgot to put hot sauce in the bag with the rest of his Taco Bell drive-thru order.
So, Combs returns to the Taco Bell and we are told he pulled out a shotgun and aimed it at an employee, who panicked and ran from the takeout window.
Not certain if he ever got his hot sauce, but we know that Jeremy Combs, (did we mention he's a convicted felon?) that is on both state and federal charges, was arrested yet again for this stunt.

Combs admitted that he had purchased several items from Taco Bell, only to return home to discover “the Taco Bell employee had failed to include his…hot sauce.”
While Combs told cops that he “became upset and drove back to the Taco Bell to confront the employee,” he denied he had a shotgun.
He said the item was actually a tire iron, but during search of Combs’s residence, police discovered a Mossberg shotgun with live rounds of ammunition affixed to its side (the weapon was hidden under the mattress in Combs’s bedroom).

Eventually Combs confessed about the shotgun at Taco Bell, and additionally confessed that the shotgun he bought “from ‘Mark’ at a drug house in Independence, Missouri.” did not have a serial number.

As a matter of interest, Combs’s rap sheet includes 14 felony arrests and three felony convictions.

Man Dies After Winning Dumpling Eating Contest

A Ukrainian man has died right after winning a dumpling eating contest.
The winner/victim was 77 years old, and collapsed within minutes of taking first prize in a contest on consuming 10 Varenniki dumplings, considered one of Ukraine's most traditional foods.
Ukrainian Varenniki typically are stuffed with cabbage, potatoes, mushrooms or cherries.

Contest organizers were unable to revive him after he lost consciousness.
Organizers denied accusations that the contest killed the man, saying Mendel had eaten just 10 dumplings in all. He ate them, reportedly, in half a minute.
"A 77-year-old man ate much faster than his opponent," Viktor Khalamovsky, one of the contest organizers said.
"He won a prize for that – a jar of sour cream. What happened to him after his victory, the organizers don't know."

An autopsy has been planned to really determine the cause of his death.

Some of you may be wondering how to make a jar of sour cream, well, here you go:

Heat 1 cup of cream to 180 degrees in a double boiler.
If you don’t have a thermometer, heat the cream until it’s almost, but not quite, boiling.

Remove the cream from heat and let it cool down to 80-90 degrees. This will take about 2 hours sitting on the counter, but it will go faster if you put it in the refrigerator or an ice bath. Again, if you don’t have a thermometer, judge by touch – the cream should be body temperature, not hot or cold.

Pour the cream into a glass container and either whisk in 1 tablespoon of buttermilk or add the buttermilk and give the jar a good shake.
Leave the jar (covered) on your counter for 24-48 hours.

We offer our congratulations and condolences to the winner.

The Noodle Museum

Finally, what we have all been waiting for, Nissin Foods in Japan has opened a cup noodle museum.

About 500 adults and children lined up before the museum opened in Yokohama near Tokyo with celebrity guests, including a former prime minister.

"We opened this place... as a factory that gives children experience and a museum for corporate activities," Nissin Foods Holdings president Koki Ando said.

Ando, whose late father Momofuku Ando invented instant noodles more than half a century ago, said visitors could knead flour, roll out noodles, steam and fry them to make chicken ramen.

There is also a section of the museum called "My Cup Noodle Factory", where visitors can design cups, put dried noodles in them and pick toppings and broth for their own versions of cupped meals.

There are even giant cup noodle containers in the museum for children to play in.

Here's a bit of information we didn't know: more than 95 billion servings of these noodles were consumed around the world in 2010.

The multi-storey Yokohama museum has a total floor space of 107,600 square feet.

Actually, the museum sounds like a lot of fun.

Could Fish Oil Help Cut Military Suicides?

We know that fish oil offers benefits to the brain and heart, but the US Army wants to know if fish oil may help lower the high rates of suicide in soldiers?
Researchers from the National Institutes of Health measured the blood levels of the omega-3 fatty acid known as docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in one group who had committed suicide and those who had not.

It was discovered that those who had low DHA levels were 62 percent more likely to have committed suicide. These findings were published last month in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry.
It's not being suggested that fish oil supplements are the magic pills that would cut military suicide rates, but it's something the army is exploring.
“I’m all over it, because I’m looking for something to help,” Gen. Peter Chiarelli, the Army’s vice chief of staff said.

Last year, 159 active duty military servicemembers killed themselves and National Guardsmen and Army reservists are committing suicide as well, with 145 killing themselves last year.

PETA PORN

We couldn't think of anything more obscene and raunchy than a photo of Andy Dick protesting for PETA in the above photo.

On that note, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has big plans to launch a pornographic website to promote its animal rights and vegan diet message.
Critics say this will backfire and ostracize them from mainstream society. (for us, this happened long ago)

PETA spokeswoman Lindsay Rajt said that the group has applied with ICM Registry to launch the website peta.xxx.

Rajt says the site will have "tantalizing" videos and photographs, which will lead viewers into animal rights messages. She said that PETA has used porn stars and nudity to get its message across in the past, including an annual speech online in which a PETA representative undresses. That video later shares a message about slaughterhouses.

She says a pornographic site will allow PETA to reach a broader audience and that publicity about the site is equally as important.

"I think the bottom line is we live a in a 24-hour news cycle where over the years we've found our racier actions are kind of a fast track way to get people to stand up and pay attention about the plight of animals," she said.

Rajt says November is the earliest that PETA could receive approval for the site.
We've always felt that PETA was a sleazy operation and by resorting to pornography our suspicions are answered.
PETA has once again detached itself from the general population that might otherwise be sympathetic to their message.

There have got to be other ways to draw attention to their cause," said Robert Peters, general counsel for the New York-based anti-pornography group Morality in Media. "Metaphorically speaking, they're getting in bed with hard core pornographers to prevent cruelty to animals. That borders on insanity."

Rajt said PETA officials would track the website to determine if people are viewing the animal rights messages and not just the nudity. Past experience has shown that they will, she said.

J. Justin Wilson, senior research analyst for the food-industry backed Center for Consumer Freedom, said moves like this by PETA make them increasingly irrelevant in mainstream society.

"They don't seem to be changing the debate anymore, I think in large part because people are writing them off as whack jobs," he said from Washington. "This is one more example of them being their own worst enemy. If they're trying to win the hearts and minds of people considering being vegetarians, this is probably the wrong way to do it."

MY EBT

A lot of us have been up in arms over the rapper who we believed was singing the praises of the EBT lifestyle. of

Stanley Lafleur, aka rapper Mr EBT (H-Man) says that people just don't get his message: "I couldn't believe people are hating on me like I'm rubbing the benefit card in the face of taxpayers. They don't get it. My video is a parody."

Lafleur offers an instructional rundown of the abuses of the EBT system with poetic flourishes: "I'm never going hungry, swiping all day y'all. Sandwiches, chips, a big box of Oreos. Cereal, Kix, but I couldn't buy a 40, dog?" At one point, he laments that his dealer doesn't accept food stamps: "I wish I could buy some weed with my EBT but the drug dealer fronted me."

But Lafleur says the video is a reflection of the EBT abuse, not a glorification of it. "That's the whole point of my video and that's what I'm trying to stop. There's a lot of people who really need help but aren't getting it while too many are abusing the system," he told the News. His producer Jermaine Gomes agreed with his sentiment: "It's just amazing that some people don't get it. They think it's seriously some dumb guy just using his EBT card."

Camera Found in Starbucks Bathroom

Our next story is about Starbucks and a hidden camera.
A Virginia man says when his daughter used the bathroom at the Starbucks in Penn Quarter, she saw a hidden camera pointed directly at the toilet.

So, a civil has been filed by William Yockey against the Starbucks coffee location at 7th Street Northwest, blocks from the National Mall. (photo below)

Yockey said he was with his his family when they stopped in the Starbucks.
Yockey said his daughter went to use the bathroom and while
washing her hands, Yockey said his daughter discovered the camera.

The camera was a small, Coby brand digital video camera, placed in the U-shaped drainpipe. The lens of the digital camera was pointed towards the toilet.
Yockey said the camera was still on when he pulled it from beneath the sink and brought it to the Starbucks manager to confront her. He said the manager seemed shocked and called the police to investigate.
But she did offer the dad a free cup of coffee, really.

After the D.C. police arrived, the bathroom was roped off, and the camera was taken as evidence in a criminal investigation.

Yockey wants $1 million in the civil suit on four counts, including invasion of privacy and emotional distress.

"Myself, I can't go to a public restroom without giving it a thorough scan," Yockey Said. "My daughter is 5, it's embarrassing that she has to look for a camera before she uses the bathroom."

Starbucks released the following statement on the incident:
"We take our obligation to provide a safe environment for our customers and partners (employees) very seriously. Our store partners took swift action as soon as they became aware of the issue -- immediately alerting the police department and assisting in the investigation. We continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement on this matter; however, because there is pending litigation, we cannot comment on the specifics of this case. However, we can tell you that as a part of regular store operations, we monitor the seating areas and rest rooms in our stores on a regular basis to identify potential safety or security concerns."

The five year old's mother is still furious and there're suing Starbucks because they failed to clean the restroom and failed to do the most obvious kind of checks for hidden cameras.

"It's completely unethical. It's disgusting. And the fact that the manager didn't know what to do. 'I don't know, would you like a free coffee?' is really really pathetic," she told she said.

The camera captured a blurry, unidentifiable image of the man who may have placed it there. Police haven't been able to find him.

The girl's mother said about her lawsuit: "It's not about money. It's that they need to take a stand and do what's right and take care of stuff."

But they'll take the money just the same, if they win.

The Kobe Beef Chewing Gum Salad

Christina Milian (photo below) was enjoying her Kobe Beef Salad at a L.A. restaurant last week when she says she got a wad of chewed gum in her mouth.

She was having dinner at Mexicali restaurant in Studio City and halfway through her salad Christina started chewing the already chewed gum and quickly spit it out.
Horrified, she ran to the bathroom and threw up.

Even though the restaurant comped her meal, Christina is still horror-struck about what happened, and has filed a complaint with the L.A. Department of Health.

Christina told TMZ, she's lookin' for a lawyer, but says, "The most important thing to me is to make sure my health is okay. Ever since the incident I have not eaten out."

The Mexicali restaurant has no commet.

Man Calls 911 Because Taco Bell Won't Serve Him

Terry Lynn Kimbell called the cops.
Terry Lynn Kimbell was arrested.
That's Terry Lynn Kimbell in the above photo.

It all happened outside a Taco Bell around 12:00 a.m. after a night of drinking.
The 50-year-old Floridian walked up to the drive-through window, he was a hungry drunk man, and employees refused to serve him because wasn't in a car.
Taco Bell has a no-car, no-food policy for the drive through.

It was then Mr. Kimbell put on his thinking cap and called 911.

Here's the 911 call transcript:

911: "Largo emergency."
Kimbell: "It's not an emergency. However, can you -- can you put me through to dispatch? I'm at the Taco Bell, and I walked in, and I left my car on purpose, so I wouldn't drink and drive. I walked up, they wouldn't serve me. So, I'm at the Taco Bell at 137th and Walsingham and I just want some tacos. That's it."

Rather than simply hanging up on Kimbell, the police operator investigated deeper into the matter.

911: "What are the employees saying?"
Kimbell: "You can't walk up, you've got to drive up. You got a get a DUI to get a taco. I got the munchies and I walked a quarter mile from here. Are you going to help me out or do I have to get arrested to get home? You know what I'm saying?"

911: "Well, we're not going to take you home."
Kimbell: "I want you to call the manager at the Taco Bell."

It was right about then that police charged Kimbell with misuse of the 911 system. He was released Wednesday afternoon.

Indian Man Has Been Drinking Wife’s Blood for Three Years

Right on the heels of the girl who is a vampire and the old guy eating raw meat at Walmart we bring you this:
A young woman (that's her in the photo) in India says that her husband has been forcefully drawing blood from her arms with a syringe, putting it into a glass, and drinking it.
He started drinking her blood because he claims it makes him strong.
When ever she tried to resist, that would end up with her husband violently attacking her.

In a bizarre crime on all kinds of levels, but besides making him strong, he also said it was because she was unable to meet his dowry. (we don't understand either)

Mahesh Ahirwar, (the husband in photo below) been arrested on a case of dowry harassment under section 498 of IPC. (who knew)

The woman married him three years ago, and her complaint states that he committed the horrific act nearly every day, because she did not bring money, and a vehicle.

Finally, she left the house after giving birth to a child, and filed the complaint after going to her parents' house at village Shikarpura Piparia in the district.

Relevant charges would be pressed if the allegation of blood-drawing was established, said prosecution officer.

China's Gutter Oil

We've talked about this before, and out of all the food safety scandals coming out of China, like the toxic infant formula, pesticide-tainted vegetables, exploding watermelons, "lean meat powder" and pork reconstituted as beef— "gutter oil is still one of the most nauseating.

For those who haven't heard, "gutter oil" is the resale of used cooking oil that has been scooped from sewers.
Gutter oil- old kitchen oil that has been illegally recycled- carcinogens and traces of aflatoxin, a potentially deadly mold.

A crackdown by Chinese police shows just how big this thing has become.
In a six-month investigation spread across 14 provinces, police say they broke up six illicit oil recyclers and arrested 32 suspects. The authorities recovered 100 tons of gutter oil they say was being processed for

China consumes about 22.5 million tons of cooking oil annually, and as much as one out of every ten restaurant meals has been cooked in the waste.

The Jinan Green Bio Oil Company in Shandong, was suppose to be a biodiesel firm, but now it's being accused of reprocessing gutter oil for more lucrative sales back into food markets. Investigators found 70 tons of "gutter oil" in various stages of processing at the company.

Safety experts are saying it might take ten years before the country cleans up is gutter oil problem.

Dad arrested for throwing pizza at daughter

A Gainsville, Florida, man has been arrested on child abuse charges after throwing and hitting his teenage daughter with a slice of pizza.

The 38 year old man and his daughter got into an argument because he thought she was spending too much time on her computer.
The dad apparently cursed at her and used racist language. The daughter then responded by cursing back at him, talking smack.
It was then the threw a slice of pizza at her, hitting her in the back of the neck as she sat in front of her computer.

So the daughter calls 911 and her father gets arrested and is charged with child abuse without harm, and that's third-degree felony.

Police say the man used racist and sexist terms when he asked his daughter to turn off her computer, and she fired back with some crude language of her own.
The police go on to say the father "intentionally threw a slice of pizza at the victim, striking her in the back of the neck, against her will."

The sweet and loving daughter's name and age are being witheld to protect the identity of the victim.

The chart above is to assist you if you ever decide to throw food. Pizza is expensive and there are other, cheaper choices.

Man arrested for eating raw meat at Walmart

The man in the above photo is accused of eating raw meat at a Walmart and putting the opened packages back on the shelves.

Employees saw Scott T. Shover, 53, eat from several packages without paying. (actually, not paying isn't the real issue)

Here's this guy opening packages of raw ground beef and raw stew beef and eating, and this comes right on the heels of the vampire story we recently posted.

Shover's record shows that he has four previous retail theft convictions. And because he is a repeat offender, this most recent theft becomes a felony offense, police said.

Woman Sentenced To 5 Years In McDonald’s Transgender Attack

Do you remember the post we ran about the attack on the transgender woman at McDonald's?
Teonna Brown, 19 (above photo left) was sentenced to 10 years in prison with five years suspended for her role in the beating of a transgender woman Chrissy Polis (above photo right) inside a Rosedale McDonald’s earlier this year.

Teonna pleaded guilty after she was caught on tape viciously attacking 22-year-old Chrissy Polis.

All but five years was suspended. Brown will serve three years probation when she is released.

In court, Brown issued an apology to the victim.

Brown pleaded guilty last month to first-degree assault and a hate crime. She faced a maximum sentence of 35 years in prison.

The beating recorded on a cell phone last April shows repeated attacks on Polis by Brown and her 14-year old friend.
We showed that video as others did, and it quickly was everywhere.

Polis (the victim) had little to say at the trial.
“I was kind of nervous being here today,” Polis said then. “I really did not want to come. So like I said, I have no comment. I just want to lay low and keep my life as normal as much as possible.”

The assault was captured on the cell phone camera of a McDonald’s employee and Polis said the incident started as she was trying to use the restroom.

“I went to go use the bathroom. Come back out, the girl spit in my face, said, `Are you trying to talk to my man?’ I said, `No, I didn’t even know that was your man at all.’ The other girl came up, spit in my face, then they started ripping my hair, throwing me on the floor."
“They just seemed like they wanted to pick a fight that night, they really did. And come to find out that girl was only 14 years old. I was shocked,” she added. “They kicked me in my face; they really hurt me really bad and I’m just afraid to go outside now because of stuff like this.”

Only one McDonald’s employee can be seen trying to help in the assault. Several others can be heard laughing. McDonald’s eventually fired the employee who filmed the attack.

Another girl acknowledged her role in the same attack back in July. She was committed to a juvenile detention facility.

Vegan couple sentenced to life over baby's death

Charged: Lamont Thomas and Jade Sanders

The Vegan couple who only fed their newborn son soy milk and apple juice have lost out trying to have their murder convictions overturned.

Jade Sanders, 27, and Lamont Thomas, 31, had appealed against their conviction four years ago over the death of their six-week-old son who starved to death.

The Georgia Supreme Court upheld the murder conviction of these two who claimed they were sticking to their beliefs over food.

The two parents had rushed their malnourished son to hospital after he began to have trouble breathing back in 2005.
Doctors declared him dead on arrival after failing to resuscitate him.

When police searched the couple's flat in Fulton County, Georgia, they found a soy milk bottle, an apple juice bottle and a rancid-smelling baby bottle caked with debris.

As a result of their lifestyle, their son weighed only three-and-a-half pounds when he died, aged six months

Prosecutors said an investigation revealed the two only fed their baby soy milk and apple juice, and had failed to seek medical treatment when their young son was wasting away.

In her appeal, Sanders' lawyer argued the evidence wasn't strong enough to support the verdict.

And Thomas' lawyer claimed his trial attorney was ineffective because he failed to call an expert to support his theory that his son's death was linked to cystic fibrosis and not starvation.

The Supreme Court rejected the appeal and said the conviction was a go.
