The Sun Sets on Wendy's in Japan

With too much competition from McDonald's, Wendy’s has decided to close all 71 of its Japanese restaurants on Jan. 1, 2010.
Zensho, the Japanese company that runs Wendy’s Japan, decided not to renew its contract with Wendy’s, which runs out at the end of 2009.

Wendy's opened its first restaurant in Singapore this week, one of 35 new locations the company plans to build in the Asian nation within the next 10 years.
The opening comes less than one week after Wendy's announced it will temporarily leave Japan as it seeks a new partner to develop stores there.
