PETA Wants to Give Topeka $6,000

TOPEKA - PETA is at it again again, this time they want to give Topeka money.

They are offering the city $6,000 to place an advertisement on the side of a Shawnee County recycling truck. The ad would show a blonde woman wearing a bikini made of lettuce leaves.

The aim of the ad is to encourage people to switch to vegetarian diets.

Topeka Mayor Bill Bunten refused the $6,000 from PETA. The money was to be used to fill potholes in the city and mark the repairs with messages condemning KFC. PETA claims the restaurant chain treats its chickens inhumanely.

Mayor Bunten said PETA was simply trying to make a political statement.

PETA has a long history pushing vegetarianism, claiming it’s healthier, more humane to animals and doesn’t contribute to global warming.
