A Vision or Going Bananas?

Cedric Hooper bought some bananas at his local supermarket and when he got home and found one skin contained two bananas. (sorry, but the story doesn't get much better)

"This banana looked fatter than the others we bought and when we split it open there were two inside instead of the usual one," he said.
"They were both within the same skin - it looked really strange.
"I like a banana most days and have bought thousands - but I've never seen anything like this one."
Mr Hooper said he had still eaten the fruit.
"Both tasted fine," he added.
Okay, we know the story sucks, but we were excited because Mr. Hooper didn't think the banana looked like Jesus, as we see below.

Maybe there is a connection of some kind, what do we know?, we're only food people looking for answers.

Jesus Found in Woman's Bruise

Sometimes we start thinking, we have no shame, but no time to worry about that now, besides, we have already eastablished that all these sightings are food related.
Just go back into our archives and you'll understand.
Anyway,  here's the story.
I's a bloody miracle according to the diabetic, Mary Massa.
This Christian woman claims she can see the face of Jesus in a bruise that was left on her arm after blood tests.
Mary, our Lady of the Hematoma, claims that behind  two needle punctures, on her bruised arm is the face of Christ.

The New Year Begins and here we go again

The new year begins and here we go again.
Online bidders have the opportunity of a lifetime (maybe longer) to purchase two potatoes with crosses in their centers. One was found by an Iowa family and the other by a police detective in Ohio.
Jim Gross of Marion, Iowa, says his wife was peeling their potato on New Year's Eve when she found the cross shape. This is on sale for eBay, with bids starting at $2.
Dennis Bort of Brunswick, Ohio, says he found the cross shape in his potato on Christmas Day.
He listed his potato for $1,000. He hasn't found any bidders yet.

Jesus and a Banana Peel

We thought all our sightings for the year had come to a conclusion, but apparently not.
Let's have one more, shall we?

Lisa Swinton saw the face of Jesus in her banana peel.
‘‘I was like ‘Oh my God! It’s Jesus on a banana!’’
‘‘I got it out of the fruit bowl and was about to peel it and eat it when I saw his face,’’ she said.
Even though she believes she saw Christ embedded into the banana, it didn't stop her from eating the blessed fruit, then throwing the holy peel away.
‘‘I put some photos up on Facebook – one of my friends said it looked like a monkey.’’
Ms Swinton seems to have holy visions everywhere.
‘‘One of my friends said they saw the Holy Mother on their bathroom door and another saw an apparition of Mary on the mold of their shower floor,’’ she said.

Religious Sightings - Year in Review

Let's take a look at the religious sightings and the competition that exists between them.

HOLY COW

Next up, a divine cow in Connecticut, yes, it's everywhere now.
A calf with a white marking on its forehead that some see as the shape of a cross was born last week at a dairy farm in Sterling, near the Rhode Island border.
Owner Brad Davis believes the marking may be a message from above, though he's still trying to figure out what that message might be. (good luck on that Brad)
The neighborhood children have named it Moses.
The chairman of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Dairy Science says while it's not unusual for a Holstein cow to have a white marking on its head, the cross shape is unique.
Without being disrespectful,  the marking also reminds us of  Casper the friendly ghost.

In a related story(well, not really)

The face of Jesus has been spotted in a toilet door in a Glasgow branch of Ikea.
The bearded face with long flowing hair, is plainly visible on the wooden door of the men’s toilet.

But the jury is out on this one.
Many see the face of Jesus, others say it's Gandalf, perhaps professor Dumbledore?
One shopper said: "It takes you by surprise. It is really clear in the wood.
I was only heading to the toilet and found God.
My wife thought He looked like Gandalf from Lord of the Rings but it is definitely more like the Turin Shroud."

The Holy Egg

Honestly, it must be that time of year.
We really aren't looking for these stories, it's like, they are falling out of the sky or something.
Pam and Tracy Norrell, a Fort Worth-area couple said one of their hens laid an egg with a cross on the end of it. And of course, they said they believe it's a sign of encouragement during the holiday season.
Tracy Norrell said he was gathering up eggs when one he picked up seemed to be unusual, not smooth like other eggs. The holy egg has what appears to be a cross on it.
The Norrells said eating the egg is not an option.
Even though they say they won't eat it, we wonder what would happen if they ate it with the Virgin Mary pancakes?

Virgin Mary Pancake

What did we tell you, these sightings are all somehow connected.
Bianca Lopez says she was preparing breakfast for her family when she noticed the image of the Virgin in one of those pancakes
Just in time for Christmas.

This is kind of an update: There have been other pancake sightings.
Next up is a Jesus and Mary Pancake which Marilyn Smith sold on eBay for $338.

In her description of the item, Smith writes:

"This is a spiritual, unusual and unique pancake that we believe to be holy and depicts what looks to be Jesus and Mary. My brother said it looks more like Moses and Elijah. What is your guess?? It was created on November 5th by accident along with a batch of pancakes for breakfast. With no suspicions of any figures being in it, my mother flipped it over to do the other side and discovered that these are obviously religious figures dressed in the early desert garb that would have been worn at that time in Jeruselem."

Woman sees image of Jesus on her iron

If you've learned anything about the Voodoo Kitchen and how we connect these stories to food, you'll understand why our interest has perk up once again.
(otherwise read past stories to understand why)
A Massachusetts woman who recently experienced personal troubles, like being separated from her husband and having  her hours cut at work says she sees an image of Jesus Christ she sees on her iron.
This image has reassured her that "life is going to be good."
Mary Jo Coady first saw Jesus Sunday when she walked into her daughter's room.
The brownish residue on the bottom of the iron looks like the face of a man with long hair.
She and her two college-age daughters came to the same conclusion,  the image looks like Jesus and is proof that "he's listening."
Coady  hopes her story will inspire others during the holidays.
She says she plans to keep the iron in the closet (the closet?) and buy a new one.

ABC News: Virgin Mary Seen in Bird Poop

Yes, we know this isn't a food story, but we follow the Virgin Mary stories because for us it all started with food. She was found on a restaurant grill, then on toast, so we thought we should keep an eye on this phenomena.

Virgin Mary Has Become a Tree Stump

Last time we checked the Virgin Mary was at the The Las Palmas restaurant in Calexico, then on a piece of toast and now she has become part of a tree stump. But there is a slight problem, Mary may be removed.

Nearly 2,000 people in Ireland have signed a petition to prevent the Mary tree stump which from being removed from a church.
Workmen made the discovery after cutting down trees at Holy Mary Parish Church in Rathkeale, County Limerick. Scores of people have since gathered there to pray.
The prayerful say "it's doing no harm and it's bringing people together from young and old to black and white, Protestant and Catholic, to say a few prayers. So what's wrong with that?"
But parish priest Father Willie Russell has urged people not to worship the tree.
"There's nothing there . . . it's just a tree . . . you can't worship a tree."

Noel White, who sits on a graveyard committee, said that the stump will stay.
"Nature has a funny way of showing things up and let it be a freak of nature or something else, whatever it is, surely it is a wonderful thing to see so many people coming out to pray.
"Maybe this is Our Lady's way of getting people back to the church."
A prayer vigil was held at the stump where locals have erected a temporary shrine.

Virgin Mary Found On Grill

The Las Palmas restaurant in Calexico, on the California-Mexicoborder say they discovered the likeness of the Virgin Mary as the grill was being cleaned. It’s the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe that a cook says she saw on the grill. Since the discovery, the grill has been taken out of serviceand placed in it’s own special shrine, in the storage room.

Mary On Toast

You see, we spiritually feed you here at the Voodoo Kitchen.
This is not a new story but this stuff never gets old.
Florida resident Diane Duyser’s prized possession was a 10-year old toasted cheese sandwich that amazingly never decayed and, even more amazingly, bore the image of the Virgin Mary.
In November 2004, Diane decided to cash in on her sacred sarnie by auctioning it online. By the time her unlikely auction closed the listing had received over 1.7 million hits. The winning bidder, online casino GoldenPalace.com, paid US$28,000 for the sandwich.
