Joseph Cerniglia, the suicide chef, had a fondness for the pastry chef

Joseph Cerniglia, the suicide chef had a fondness for the taste of pastry, actually it was his pastry chef he had a fondness for.

The 39-year-old chef had been in a romance with Jessica Marotta (above photo), his pastry chef, before he took the fatal leap.

"They loved each other very much," said the pastry chef's mom, Ana Marotta.
"My daughter is devastated," Ana said about her daughter Jessica, she went from waitress to co-owner of Cerniglia's Campania restaurant.

Many people wanted to blame Gordon Ramsay for the suicide of Joe Cerniglia but it appears those people are dead wrong.

It seems that Joe Cerniglia was having an extra marital affair with Jessica Marotta, and it was that affair that eventually destroyed his marriage with his wife.

Because of all this, perhaps the name of Jessica Marotta seems to be an important factor in Joe Cerniglia's suicide and not Gordon Ramsay's.

It was Gordan Ramsay in a 2007 that warned Joseph that his restaurant was "about to swim down the Hudson."
As it turned out it was Joesph who was floating down the Hudson instead.

Body Pulled From Hudson River - Chef Featured On "Kitchen Nightmares"

Joseph Cerniglia, owner of Campania restaurant who we watched on Kitchen Nightmares in 2007 was found dead on Friday as his body was discovered found floating in the Hudson River.

According to police, officials are looking at the possible connection to a report of a man jumping from the George Washington Bridge earlier that day.
It was reported that on Sunday that a 911 caller had reported seeing a body floating in the river shortly after 2 p.m.
Police said at 12:50 p.m., a different 911 caller had reported seeing a man jump from the bridge.

Campania was featured on Kitchen Nightmares, and after the show was televised, Joseph Cerniglia said  “We were very busy, but I couldn’t seem to make a profit. We kept getting deeper and deeper into debt. Our food costs were high, and we couldn’t get our labor costs under control.” in regards to his decision to be on the hit series. He went on to say “Let’s just say I got to see the softer, more nurturing side of Gordon Ramsay.”
So it's unclear why Joseph would want to commit suicide if that is even what he did?
If we learn any more details, we'll pass them along.

Here's an eerie look back at Joseph on Kitchen Nighmares:

Kitchen Nightmares - Season 3

We have been a little critical of Gordon Ramsay lately, mainly because we felt he deserved it.
In fact, we questioned his ability to do another season of Kitchen Nightmares because of his own restaurant problems.
But we've been watching season 3 and we have to admit it's fun to see Gordon Ramsay in action again.

Kitchen Nightmares Returns September 11th on Fox

Kitchen Nightmares new season is scheduled to debut September 11 on Fox.

Gordon Ramsay is excited for viewers to see the work he did with the a new line up of American eating establishments.
"This year, Kitchen Nightmares is almost on par with the U.K. version," Ramsay said.
"I think you'll see a different side this year. When the chefs confront [me], I'm going to get straight to the point. The minute when they start understanding why I'm there, let's not forget, they asked me in there, and I want to get on with the cooking and helping the business restructure itself. Arguing is not a thing of the past, but getting straight to the point is something I can never stop doing. So they get very insecure too quickly... But the truth hurts."

Bourdain & White discuss chefs, kitchens & The Food Network

Marco Pierre White, is the legendary British chef with a quick temper and a similarly candid view of the restaurant world as Bourdain. Maybe you haven't heard of Marco, but many regard him as one of the greatest. Even if you have never heard of Marco there is every chance you've heard of Mario Batali, Jamie Oliver, Gary Rhodes, Gordon Ramsay and Heston Blumenthal, they trained and worked with Marco. We believe Marco played a major roll as the creator of the modern-day phenomenon that is the celebrity chefs.

Pierre White and Bourdain discussed the role of the chef: in the kitchen, and on TV.

The question: what “defines a chef?” White’s chef is somebody who works up the ranks from “boy cook to head of the kitchen,” stressing that the chef’s name on the door should be the person cooking the food—either stationed at the burner or working the pass. He referred to many chefs as “living lies” by not cooking in their own kitchens.

Bourdain stressed chef as a “leader, who can get somebody to show up to work every day.”

Regarding chefs on TV? The Food Network has some crap on-air talent,. so what’s the point of the television chef? “TV is a way to inspire people to cook. People don’t learn to cook from others, they teach themselves to cook,” said Pierre White. And about Gordon Ramsay—whom White recently took over for on the British version of “Kitchen Nightmares”? “The last thing you should be doing in the kitchen is belittling people,” said Pierre White adding the barb that Ramsay even made himself cry on TV. Bourdain added that Mario Batali was the most qualified stand-and-stir host the network has seen.
