Rachael Ray, Martha Stewart serve cold shoulder

 

There was a giant serving of cold shoulder recently when Martha Stewart and Rachael Ray were at the same new restaurant Il Buco Alimentaria & Vineria in New York.

The atmosphere was as cold as ice when they found themselves seated at nearby tables. 

Witnesses said Stewart, whose daytime television show was recently canceled, was “noticeably glaring in Ray’s direction throughout her meal.” Meanwhile, Ray, who was seated with Time magazine food writer Josh Ozersky, became visibly uncomfortable — so much so that after having her appetizer, she left with her main course in a doggie bag.

Perhaps Stewart was upset because Ray’s daytime show is moving into her empty studio.

Another witness said: “Martha was staring Rachael down as soon as she walked in with a group of friends. Martha looked disgruntled. You could definitely feel Martha’s heat in that kitchen.”

A third witness said: “They were both there for dinner unbeknownst to the other. Rachael’s daytime show is moving into Martha’s old studio. I’m sure Martha isn’t excited that Rachael is moving into her space. Rachael is fond of Martha; she’s had her on her show before. It was very uncomfortable for Rachael. She and her group had their appetizers, then asked for their entrees to go."

Back in 2009, after Stewart told “Nightline,” “[Rachael] just did a new cookbook, which is just a re-edit of a lot of her older recipes. And that’s not good enough for me . . . Rachael is different. She’s more of an entertainer . . . with her bubbly personality, than she is teacher, like me. That’s not what she’s professing to be.” Stewart later issued a half-apology. Ray’s spokesperson declined to comment, and Stewart’s rep said, “Martha was not aware Rachael was in the restaurant.”

Rachael Ray's Burger Bash

What's not to like about he annual Rachael Ray Burger Bash, held Feb. 25 at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival in Miami?
There were celebrity chefs like, Bobby Flay, Daniel Boulud, Masaharu Morimoto and Michael Symon. serving burgers.

Runner up: fellow Iron Chef Bobby Flay's Bobby's Burger, Palace's Dallas Burger, "Crunchified", a spice crusted burger with coleslaw, Monterey Jack, BBQ sauce and pickles.
It took over 7,500 pounds of 10 varieties of ground meat to make 48,600 portions of 27 different hamburgers the Burger Bash.

Rachael Ray to lead Krewe of Argus this Mardi Gras

Celebrity cooking person Rachael Ray will lead the Krewe of Argus this Mardi Gras.
Ray, will serve as the 2010 Grand Marshal for the 38th annual parade.
Argus and the 25-float parade will operate within the theme "Love Is In The Air."
Ray will join a list of past "celebrity" (using the term loosely) grand marshals of Argus including weatherman Al Roker, Phyllis Diller, Barbara Eden, former New Orleans newswoman Hoda Kotb and Loretta Swift.
“She’s a big star; She’s well-known on television,” said Lawrence Chehardy, co-captain of the Metairie krewe, “We’re excited about having her and looking forward to having her with us on Mardi Gras.”

Martha Stewart Trashes Rachael Ray

Martha Stewart says Rachael Ray can't hold a candle to her in the kitchen.
This all started after Rachael Ray visited The Martha Stewart Show, following Martha Stewart's visiting The Rachael Ray Show the day before.
Perhaps Stewart's showed her true feelings when Stewart pull her hand away when Ray tried to grab it as the pair made an entrance together on The Rachael Ray Show.
She also came across as a "know it all" with Ray just sitting there, seemingly awestruck to have Stewart on her show.
So, after these two pretended to enjoy each other's visits, Stewart's went for the kill during her interview with ABC News.
This is her first television interview since serving five months in prison in 2004 for lying to investigators about a well-timed stock trade, Stewart, talked to ABC News' Nightline about rebuilding her name -- and trashed Ray.
"Well, to me, she professed that she could -- cannot bake," Stewart says of Ray in the interview.
"She -- just did a new cookbook which is just a re-edit of a lot of her old recipes. She -- and that's not good enough for me."
When it comes to writing a book, Stewart says she want to publish something that "is a unique and lasting thing. Something that will really fulfill a need in someone's library." 
Ray, she says,"is different."
Stewart says Ray is "more of an entertainer ... with her bubbly personality, than she is a teacher, like me. That's not what she's professing to be."

So, did Rachael Ray get mad?
"Why would it make me mad?" Ray asks. "Her skill set is far beyond mine. That's simply the reality of it."
Ray adds that "that doesn't mean that what I do isn't important too... I don't consider it needling. I really just think she's being honest. She does have a better skill set than I do when it comes to producing a beautiful, perfect, high-quality meal." Says Ray, "I'd rather eat Martha's than mine, too."

But back in 2006 Martha Stewart had this to say following accusations that she sent employees to spy on Rachael Ray’s show,  “I’m the mother of these how-to shows,” Stewart said. “She cannot cook like I cook. She cannot craft like I craft.”
