Mr.World Fitness Franco Carlotto Sues Whole Foods

He's everything to everybody, he's a six-time Mr.World Fitness champion, actor, model and an inflated physical specimen.
Who is he? why none other than Franco Carlotto, who claims a bowl of cereal took him down.
The lawsuit is brewing up something big and Franco pointing his finger at Whole Foods, claiming a "defective" brand of "Whole Foods Market Organic Everyday Value Organic High Fiber Cereal" broke his teeth when he bit down down on a "portion of the cereal that had solidified to a hardened mass."

In Franco's lawsuit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Franco claims he's furious because Whole Foods gave no warning of the "particular risk of hardening of the cereal" or "solidification of the cereal."
This is kind of odd, most cereals get soggy after adding milk, don't they?

Carlotto claims he sought medical treatment for the injury -- he's suing for an unspecified amount.

Hundreds Join The Whole Foods BUY-COTT

TOWN AND COUNTRY, MO.
You know all about the Whole Foods boycott but now it's the buy-cott.
Hundreds of shoppers who are also members of the St. Louis Tea Party plan to buy a week's worth of food to support the grocery store chain.
The buy-cott comes after health care reform supporters decided to boycott the chain because Whole Foods CEO John Mackeyis against President Obama's health care plan.

We had the video at one time, but it's been removed by the news source.

Reese Witherspoon Pays Grocery Bill For Woman

The picture you see here is not the photo of the actual event, but we like visuals, so we just used a picture of her opening her wallet.
Regardless, Reese Witherspoon, paid for a woman’s groceries at a Whole Foods store after she forgot her wallet.
Reese saw an upset and flustered woman who had forgotten her wallet and she picked up the tab.
The woman was so embarrassed, but Reese said she would gladly take care of the 70-dollar bill and no apology was necessary.
“She told the mom, ''I understand, I have kids too!''
Three cheers for Reese Witherspoon!!!

UNIONS JOIN WHOLE FOODS BOYCOTT

Labor unions have joined the boycott aimed at Whole Foods Market, up in arms over CEO John Mackey’s criticism of President Barack Obama’s health care plan.

The United Food and Commercial Workers Union and CtW Investment Group, an arm of several unions including the Service Employees International Union, are part of the boycott effort and say Mackey should be kicked out as CEO of Whole Foods.

They also are pushing for the Bravo cable network, owned by NBC Universal-General Electric, to drop Whole Foods as the sponsor of its popular “Top Chef” show.

They want CEO John Mackey fired for voicing his opinion or could have something to do with unionizing efforts?

What a shock it must be, a union joins the boycott of non-union Whole Foods - big surprise.
They probably don't even know why they are boycotting the chain, except that's it's non-union.
Can we say organized thugs?

John Mackey Angers Believers - But Where will the Shoppers go?

Last week John Mackey, CEO of the organic Whole Foods, wrote a post in the Wall Street Journal saying "The Whole Foods Alternative to ObamaCare" which consisted of "Eight things we can do to improve health care without adding to the deficit."
Many have reacted to such apostasy by boycotting the stores while Mackey argued that health care is not a right, noting that neither the Declaration of Independence nor the Constitution guarantees it.
The piece starts with a Margaret Thatcher quote, "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money," and that has some Whole Foods shoppers gasping for air.

A bunch of Whole Foods shoppers have taken their issues with this piece to the Internet, where people on the Twitter and Facebook are calling for a boycott of the store.

But where will the shoppers go?

Maybe to the more expensive organic stores.

Perhaps Wal-Mart, they do have lower prices, but really, Whole Foods shoppers at Wal-Mart?
Just imagine the Whole Foods crowd rubbing elbows with Wal-Mart shoppers, it's doubtful because, they are, well...not their kind.

Trader Joe's, perhaps.

Maybe they can just grow their own food.

Whole Foods CEO: "We Sell a Bunch of Junk"

When Whole Foods began in the UK two years ago it was praised as a the center of the health food universe. But today the struggling US store's chief executive admitted that, right next to the organic carrots and bags of granola, the shops "sell a bunch of junk".
The comments came out of an interview in which John Mackey was trying to explain plans for the store to put more emphasis on healthy eating. There have been suggestions that Whole Foods has recently obliged consumer cravings for more indulgent foods.
He went on to say that Whole Foods was going to launch a healthy eating education initiative to encourage customers and employees to reduce obesity.
But Mackey told the Wall Street Journal: "Basically, we used to think it was enough just to sell healthy food, but we know it is not enough. We sell all kinds of candy. We sell a bunch of junk."

"There will be someone in a kiosk to answer questions, they'll have cookbooks and health books, there will be some cooking classes. It will be about how to select food, because people don't know."
His comments come as Whole Foods recoils from bad news. Jeff Turnas, who took charge of the group's faltering UK operation last month, said Mackey's words "had been lost in translation", saying that what his boss meant was that eating too many crisps or cakes even if they are organic is not the best way to keep healthy.
But the British experience has been an unhappy one. The group has seen an operating loss for the year to 30 September 2008 of $60 million, widening from a $16.52 million shortfall for the previous 12 months. Its parent company, Whole Foods Market Inc, has been forced to write off almost $83.42 million as part of the effort to establish a foothold in the UK.
Mackey said Whole Foods would attempt to rid its stores of unhealthy food, starting with a campaign to get its employees healthier, and would be going back to its roots in selling healthy food.
"Right now, if you work for the company you get a 20% discount card," Mackey said. "We're going to create incentives for our team members to get healthier."
Mackey said Whole Foods is going back to its roots of selling healthy food.
"Healthy eating went on at Whole Foods from at least about 1980 to 1995. Now we've had a 15 year run for the foodie philosophy. We are launching a reversal now. We will be moving into food as health."

In other Whole Foods news: The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) has urged Whole Foods Market and United Natural Foods, Inc. to prioritize certified organic food, support farmers and manufacturers' transition to organic production, and stop advertising so-called "natural" products as "almost organic."

Though Whole Foods and UNFI have continually cultivated an image of "socially responsibility," the facts are quite the opposite. The OCA and allies have chronicled numerous examples of labor abuses in the organic market, Whole Food's poor social responsibility record, lack of real support for farm workers, and mere lip service to support small farmers.
