Bringing Home the Bacon

The great 'Bacon Barter' is all about comedian Josh Sankey's trip from New York to Los Angeles trading 3,000lb of bacon for food and lodging.

Josh (photo below) is trying to barter his way across the country, from New York to Los Angeles using only thick cut bacon as currency.

Sponsored by Oscar Mayer, Sankey will travel to 12 American cities trading some 3,000 pounds of thick cut bacon.

The promotion is Oscar Mayer's way of advertising their new brand of bacon.
The promotion includes searching for bacon lovers who will trade food, a place to sleep and whatever  he needs on his road trip for 'bricks' of the company's newest offering 'Butcher Thick Cut Bacon.'

The goal is to get to LA by September 23.
He says,'I'm driving from NY to LA with no cash and no cards -- just a trailer full of Butcher Thick Cut Bacon to barter with you for food, lodging and everything else I need.
'It's all to find out if America loves this bacon as much as money!'

As We Observe The Day of Bacon

It's here once again, the day we have all waited for, "International Bacon Day."
The sacred observance is celebrated on the Saturday before US Labor Day (the first Monday of September)……..Bacon day celebrations are social events where participants create and consume dishes containing bacon, including bacon-themed breakfasts, lunches, dinners, desserts, and drinks.”

Happy Bacon Day!

New Delhi says, "there's nothing to worry about"

We find ourselves in New Delhi where the Delhi government has pleaded with the people of the city not to worry about the presence of drug-resistant bacteria in the capital's tap water.

Officials say they have reviewed the issue of the superbug bacteria and its implications for human health and there is no cause of any worry.
Gee, where have we heard that before?

They went on to say:
"The chlorination of water makes it safe for drinking purposes. The water being supplied through DJB and other similar sources meets the prescribed standards of testing and safety. The chlorination process and its monitoring is further being strengthened."

So, everyone can relax and stop worrying because officials have dismissed concerns about thee drug-resistant bacteria in tap water, saying the water being supplied by the agency was "safe" for drinking.

Time will tell...

The Cambridge Tavern Bacon Eating Contest

f you love bacon like we do, then the place to be was at Atwood's Tavern in Cambridge, Mass.
The bar held the Fourth Annual Atwood's Bacon Eating Contest this past weekend,
There was even bacon-infused vodka which was described:
"It tastes like toilet water and feels like a hangover."

Each competitor had a different strategy, some ripped the bacon up into tiny pieces and others tried to stuff as much into their mouths as possible, hoping it would find its way down.

The big winner was Dan Del Rossi who consumed 10 ounces of the thick, chewy bacon.

"I feel great," Dan said afterward. "It was meant to be. I'm a fat kid."
